This week on The Huddle, we decided to take a look at a team captain, and highlight some of the leadership of participants playing in REC Leagues. Thanks to the Point Grey Cup Flag Football for recognizing Ahria Rezai!
Team Captain: Ahria Rezai
How long have you been playing football with UBC REC?
“This is actually my first year playing football on a UBC REC team. However, I used to play on a football team with some of my friends in the Totem football league, so I’ve been playing the sport for a while now.”
Why did you want to start a football team with UBC REC?
“I used to play football in high school and I really enjoyed it, so I thought that starting a team with REC would be a great way to continue playing the sport while at University.”
How did you go about putting together your team?
“I used to play with a bunch of my friends on a football team in the Totem football league. We all decided that we wanted to continue to play football so we talked about forming a team with UBC REC. I decided to take the initiative and put together a team, so most of the players on the G-Titans used to play together in the Totem football league.”
What do you think it takes to be a successful team?
“The most important element for having a successful team is to have great teamwork. Every player needs to work hard and give it their all, but the team has to be able to work together in order to win. Also, the players need to have a good attitude, and you need to be able to trust your teammates.”
